Poppies Day Nursery Ltd is a 48 place childcare setting set in a beautiful grade II listed building. Children are aged between 6 weeks and 12 years and have access to indoor play rooms and a extensive outdoor area.

7.
Function (main purpose of job)
7.1 The post holder will work with the Officer-in-Charge to ensure that the care of the children is maintained to the highest possible standard at all times.
7.2 The post holder will ensure that at all times the environment in which the children are kept is safe, secure, clean, warm and welcoming.

Principal responsibilities
Provide stimulation to the children
Maintain a safe and secure environment for the children
Plan, organise, supervise and carry out a suitable programme for the age/abilities of the children in your care, under the direction of senior officers and also alone.
Maintain the safety, security and physical and emotional welfare of the children in the nursery.
Work positively within the team structure and be included in staff duty rosters.
Attend staff meetings/training courses outside normal working hours
Have clear understanding of how to safeguard children, staff and parents
Have clear understanding of The Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015. That it contains a
duty
on specified authorities to have due regard to the need to
prevent
people from being drawn into terrorism. This is also know as the
Prevent duty
.
Maintain children's records through observation and appropriate record keeping.
Supervise students
Put into practice nursery policies.
Conform to nursery dress codes with respect to jewellery, footwear and hair.
Respect confidentiality within the Nursery.
Assist with the preparation and supervision of children's meals.
Be responsible for some health and safety routines.
Maintain the nursery environment, undertaking cleaning duties as requested, as part of your daily routine and also under your own initiative.
Keep abreast of current issues relating to childcare, education, planning and the inspection process.
Liaise with other professional bodies, i.e. social services, education authorities and health authorities.
Settle in new children, liaising with parents.
Cover for other age groups if and when it aids the organisation of the nursery for you to do so.
Participate in wrap around services.
Be prepared to use own vehicle, with appropriate business insurance/ nursery vehicles.

All staff are reminded of their duties and responsibilities as employees to take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and other persons who may be affected by their acts or omission.

Confidentiality
Any information with regard to the children/babies in our care and their parents are of a confidential nature and disciplinary action will be taken if confidential information is divulged to inappropriate persons.
