Job Overview


The Nursery Nurse plays a vital role in providing high-quality care and education to young children in a nursery setting. This position involves creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that promotes the physical, emotional, and social development of children. The Nursery Nurse will work closely with parents and colleagues to ensure the best outcomes for every child in their care.

Duties



Provide attentive and responsive care to children aged 0-5 years, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times. Plan and implement engaging activities that promote learning through play, following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. Observe and assess children's development, maintaining accurate records to track progress and inform future planning. Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to foster positive relationships and support children's learning journeys. Maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming nursery environment that meets health and safety standards. Support the management team in leading nursery activities, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to team meetings. Drive initiatives that enhance the nursery's reputation within the community through outreach and engagement activities.

Skills



Strong background in Early Childhood Education with relevant qualifications or experience working with children in a nursery setting. Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, enabling effective interaction with children, parents, and staff. Ability to manage a group of children effectively while promoting positive behaviour and social skills. Leadership qualities that inspire confidence among colleagues and contribute to a collaborative team environment. Experience in childcare practices that support children's individual needs and developmental milestones. A proactive approach to problem-solving with the ability to adapt activities based on children's interests and needs. A full driving licence is advantageous for potential outreach activities or transporting materials as required.
