Role Description
The Nursery Practitioner is a qualified practitioner required to be a key worker for babies and toddlers aged between 10 months and 2 years old. To be an effective member of the team caring for babies and toddlers and helping to maintain high quality, enabling indoor and outdoor environments. To work with the Toddler team to teach the Stephen Perse Toddler curriculum. To respond to new initiatives and support new strategies to continually improve practice and promote effective learning, appropriate achievement and the educational, social and personal progress of all nursery children, consistent with the aims of the Stephen Perse Foundation nurseries and the unique needs of each individual.
Main Responsibilities:
Key Worker:
? Be responsible for a key group of children.
? Contribute to the creation of a safe, welcoming and inclusive indoor and outdoor enabling environment for all children to develop and learn through play.
? Understand the stages of young children's learning and development and the benefits of maximising time spent learning outdoors.
? Contribute to planning and evaluation of high quality provision and stimulating activities which meet individual needs.
? Be reflective of practice and routines, working with the Baby class and the Toddler team, tailoring them to meet developmental stages of each child throughout the day.
? To observe and assess individual children's learning and development, ensuring records are kept up-to-date, are of a high standard and are shared effectively.
? Write reports on key pupil progress and development for your key children.
? Contribute to the development of PEPs for children with special needs and disabilities.
? Organise the learning environment and develop appropriate resources as required.
? Take initiative and respond flexibly to situations arising, taking positive action in line with Stephen Perse policies and ethos.
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the child
? Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people in your class and come into contact with.
? Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security.
? Be able to recognise when a child or young person is in danger or at risk of harm, and take action to protect them.
? Have an awareness and basic knowledge where appropriate of the most recent legislation.
? Fulfil all of the requirements and duties set out in the current pay and conditions documents relating to the conditions of employment.
General Responsibilities
? Act as an excellent ambassador for Stephen Perse at all times.
? Build and maintain good working relationships with all colleagues.
? Assist as necessary in other areas at peak times.
? Work at all times towards the aims and goals of Stephen Perse and any individual objectives and targets you may have agreed.
? Proactively identify areas for improvements within Stephen Perse.
? Actively promote the Stephen Perse Equal Opportunities Policy, encouraging staff awareness and participation in all areas.

? Follow the training you have received when using any work items Stephen Perse has provided.
? Adhere to the Stephen Perse Privacy Notice and ensure private and confidential data is kept secure and disposed of in the appropriate manner.

Safeguarding and welfare of children
The post holder's responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom s/he is responsible, or with whom s/he comes into contact, will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with Stephen Perse's Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy statement at all times. If, in the course of carrying out the duties of the post, the role-holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the School, s/he must report any concerns to the School's Designated Person or the Stephen Perse Designated Safeguarding Lead.

All appointments for Stephen Perse are subject to satisfactory reference and disclosure and barring service (DBS) checks, suitability to work with children checks, online checks, proof of identity and eligibility to work in the UK, completion of a medical questionnaire and proof of qualifications.
Hours of work
40 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, 7:30-18:00, 52 weeks per year.
Salary
28,860 - 30,509 per annum.
