We are a diverse childcare setting in London where we have been meeting the needs of our community since 1991. The nursery is open from 7.45am to 6.15pm Monday to Friday, offering full time and part time places to facilitate different family needs. We aim to ensure to that the children, parents, and staff from our diverse community setting, build a strong sense of self, to be resilient in the face of adversity, and feel they have a voice to make a positive difference.

About the role



Person reports to: Manager.

You will be providing the highest level of care and education for children attending the nursery.

You will ideally hold a level 3 qualification in Childcare, Education and Learning; however, we will also consider candidates who hold their level 2 qualification and have demonstrable experience working in a busy nursery.

Responsibilities



Provide high quality care and activities for the children and to recognise both individual and group requirements in a secure, safe and stimulating environment. Ensure you are familiar with the key policies and procedures, especially safeguarding children, equal opportunities, behaviour management and health and safety. All policies and procedures will be accessible through the Bright HR app. Work in partnership with early years professionals, for example Health Visitors and
SEN services.

Within reason to comply with requests to work outside normal hours, for example to cover if staff unexpectedly have to leave the room or are called away. This includes requests from the nursery to work weekends for training purposes. Participate in room and staff meetings. Never leave the room / nursery / childcare location and put your colleagues at risk of being out of ratio - unless in case of emergency. Attend training and development courses as directed by your manager. Deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage framework and any other appropriate guidance for young children in accordance with nursery policy and guidelines. Observe each child's progress and report on achievements, looking for progression and continuity alongside the Early Years Foundation Stage. Understand and participate in the key person system. To ensure that your own key profiles are up to date and maintained at the required quality level. Ensure that you have a clear understanding of the settling of new children into your room as well as the transitioning of children from your room to others in the nursery, or those going to school. Support the children in serving their own food, milk, drinks and snacks and encourage good nutrition and sociable eating. Assist children with personal care, including changing nappies, assisting with toileting and other associated welfare duties. Carry out risk assessments twice daily to ensure the room / nursery is tidy, safe, clean and secure for children, staff, parents/carers and visitors. Maintain attendance registers. Accept and manage medicine into the nursery. Work in partnership with parents/carers, recognising that parents are their children's first educators, and encourage parental involvement in the nursery, including attending parent's meetings and open days. Provide feedback to parents about their child's day at the nursery via the blossom app. Inform parents when their child is sick or not their normal self. Assist room leader to ensure displays are changed regularly and in line with themes and seasons, that everything in the room that needs to be is appropriately labelled. Answer the phone or entry phone system as appropriate.

Location & commitments



Permanent contract. Full-time. 40 hours, per week Fellowship House Children Centre, St Bartholomew's Rd, E6. May be asked to work some weekends.

Personal hygiene.

You are required to have a recognised level 2 or 3 qualification in food hygiene.

Have knowledge of Allergens.

Have sufficient knowledge on safeguarding procedures.

Have sound knowledge of health and safety issues .

Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task.

Ability to Work as part of a team
