Job Summary


The Nursery Practitioner (maternity cover) - plays a vital role in providing high-quality care and education to young children in a nursery setting. This position involves fostering a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that promotes the development of children aged from birth to five years. The Nursery Practitioner will work collaboratively with colleagues and parents to support children's learning and well-being, ensuring that each child's individual needs are met.

Duties



Plan and implement engaging educational activities that promote children's physical, emotional, and social development. Observe and assess children's progress, maintaining accurate records to track their development. Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to ensure a cohesive approach to each child's care. Manage daily nursery routines, including meal times, play sessions, and rest periods. Maintain a clean, safe, and organised environment that meets health and safety standards. Support children in developing their independence and social skills through positive interactions. Drive initiatives that enhance the nursery's educational offerings and overall quality of care. Provide leadership within the team by mentoring new staff members and sharing best practices.

Skills



Strong communication skills to engage effectively with children, parents, and team members. Proven experience in childcare or early childhood education settings. Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a calm demeanour in a busy environment. Leadership qualities to inspire and guide fellow practitioners in delivering high-quality care. Proficiency in English for clear communication and documentation purposes. Knowledge of child development principles and best practices within a nursery context. Experience working with children in various capacities is highly desirable. A passion for nurturing young minds and fostering their growth through play-based learning.
