Responsibilities
Provide attentive and responsive care to children aged 0-5 years, fostering their emotional and social development.
Plan and implement engaging activities that promote learning through play, creativity, and exploration.
Maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating nursery environment that encourages children's growth and curiosity.
Observe and assess children's progress, documenting their development and communicating with parents or guardians regularly.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to create a supportive team atmosphere, sharing best practices in childcare.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and nursery procedures.
Skills
Strong management and leadership abilities to guide and support junior staff members.
Proven experience with children in a childcare or nursery setting is essential.
Knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices is highly desirable.
Excellent communication skills in English to effectively interact with children, parents, and colleagues.
A valid driving licence is preferred for potential transport duties related to nursery activities.

Purpose of the Role
Little Larges Day Nursery is a brand new childcare setting planning to open in November 2025. We are looking for a nursery practitioner to provide high-quality care and early education for children aged 6months-5 years in line with the
Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
, promoting their learning, development and wellbeing in a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment. Key Responsibilities1. Childcare and Education
Deliver the
EYFS curriculum
through engaging, age-appropriate activities that encourage learning and development across all areas.
Observe, assess, and record children's progress using the nursery's observation system (e.g., online learning journal or paper format).
Plan and implement next steps for each child, supporting their individual learning journey.
Encourage
positive behaviour
, independence, and social interaction.
Support children's
personal care routines
, including feeding, toileting, and hygiene, with sensitivity and respect.
2. Safeguarding and Welfare
Ensure the
safety and wellbeing
of all children at all times.
Follow the nursery's

Maintain awareness of

Support with general nursery duties such as setting up rooms, cleaning, and preparing resources.
Qualifications and ExperienceEssential:
Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education / Childcare (e.g., NVQ, CACHE, or equivalent)
Sound knowledge of the
EYFS Framework
Understanding of
safeguarding, health & safety

Good communication and teamwork skills
Desirable:
Current
Paediatric First Aid certificate
Food Hygiene certificate
Experience using digital observation systems (e.g., Family, Tapestry, or similar)
