(Level 2 or 3 qualified or with recent and relevant experience) required to work 15 hours per week, between the hours of 11am and 2pm to cover lunch breaks across the nursery. Overtime is also available.
Job purpose:
To work as an effective member of the nursery team, establishing and maintaining a high standard of learning and care for children aged 0-5 years; showing initiative and creativity to foster an environment which encourages the children's holistic development.
Main duties:
Provide a safe, caring and stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors, and in the locality, appropriate to the age/ability of the children.
Deliver an appropriate, play based Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum that enables children to make individual progress towards their next step targets and individual education plans.
Plan a programme of play-based activities, suitable for the children's stage of learning and development, following the guidelines for the implementation of the EYFS and working towards the children's next step targets and individual education plans.
Ensure records are properly maintained, e.g., daily attendance register, accident reports, dietary sheets, daily health and safety sheet, parental feedback sheet.
Liaise with parents/carers, exchanging daily information and encouraging parents' involvement in their child's education.
Attend staff meetings and training as required.
Be an effective key person, ensuring children feel safe and secure and building positive relationships with their families.
Have a good understanding of childcare and child development in relation to the EYFS requirements.
Provide effective support for children with special educational needs.
To have high expectations for children's behaviour and conduct, ensuring these expectations are understood and applied consistently and fairly in line with our Behaviour policy.
Operate to the highest standard of hygiene and cleanliness within intimate care, food preparation and serving etc.
Undertake any other duties commensurate with the post as reasonably requested by management.
Essential:
Full and relevant childcare qualification at Level 2 or 3 (eg NNEB, CACHE, NVQ) or demonstrable recent and relevant experience.
Paediatric First Aid or willingness to complete this within 3 months of starting post.
Recent experience of working with children in a childcare setting (eg paid/voluntary work, college placement).
Knowledge of the EYFS curriculum and statutory framework.
DBS (either on update system or have a new DBS completed prior to starting work) and 2 satisfactory references.
