Salary: 15,090-15,529 (actual salary) Full-time equivalent: 22,638-24,326



Term Time only, 39 weeks (part-time 25 hours)





Background and Purpose of the Role



The on-site college nursery is located in the Arts Centre site. It opened in September 2019, following the amalgamation of 2 college nurseries. The nursery provides fully funded childcare for eligible students and staff of the college. A small number of places are also available to those working locally outside of the college community.

The purpose of the role is to work as part of the nursery staff team delivering a high standard of care

and education though an inclusive curriculum for pre-school children. The post holder has safeguarding responsibility, responding to, and reporting safeguarding and child protection incidents on an immediate basis in line with policies, procedures and protocols.

Responsible to: Nursery Manager/Childcare Manager.



Position Description



The post holder will support the daily running and administration of the nursery, adhering to The City of Liverpool College policies and procedures and all relevant legislation and guidance including the

Childcare Act 2006, Working Together 2018, Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, Prevent

Duty, Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), Ofsted framework, Health and Safety, GDPR

compliance, Food Standards Agency, and Local Authority requirements###

Key Responsibilities





1. To work within the staff: child ratios, to a professional level that meets the required standards

and conditions of registration

2. To actively participate in the delivery of flexible and innovative, high-quality childcare

3. To contribute to the construction and delivery of a fully inclusive, integrated curriculum adhering

to the principles of the EYFS

4. Partake in supervision arrangements, staff meetings, discussions and peer observations.

Assisting the leadership team by taking the minutes when asked, to ensure accurate records of

such meetings are kept

5. To act as a key person to a designated group of children, observing, planning and recording

each child's development and in line with the EYFS statutory framework.

6. Ensure the personalised learning and development package devised for each child is effective

in meeting their individual needs

7. Assist with claims for free entitlement hours as requested and support parents to complete a

claim form

8. Assist in the purchasing of consumables for the nursery, as required and ensure adequate

supplies are maintained

9. Be responsible for the accurate completion and monitoring of attendance registers and ensure

other records requited are up to date and managed in line with Data Protection and GDPR

regulations

10. Contribute as required, to any Ofsted inspection

11. Adhere to policies, procedure and protocols to ensure the health and safety, security and

welfare of children, staff, students and visitors###

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise





Essential Criteria:



Relevant qualification in Early Years Childcare/Education (Level 2 minimum)

Recent experience of working with children in a pre-school setting

Knowledge and understanding of child development, key legislative framework, The Early Years

Foundation Stage, safeguarding and child protection practices

Good organisational skills and effective time management to ensure delegated tasks are completed and deadlines met. Ability to work under own initiative

Effective communication and team working skills

Experience of the Key Person role

Personal qualities of integrity, honesty, transparency and commitment to/ownership of the mission &

values of the College.

Positive personality - self-motivated, passionate & driven to achieve the best outcome for students

Commitment to own professional development and to participate fully in training opportunities

Be a conversant user of MS and IT systems and have a willingness to learn and develop ICT skills to

ensure effective productivity

Willingness & ability to embrace new systems to drive forward initiatives within the nursery

Willingness & ability to contribute to the development of the college nursery
