Nursery Pre School Room Leader

Job Description

Hours: 4 days per week, 7.45am-6pm with 1 day off or 9 days every 2 weeks

Hello. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Pre-School Room Leader to join our team at Greygates Nursery in North London. We are a small, family-run nursery with up to 50 children. The toddler room has up to 24 children aged 2.5 - 4 years years and a team of up to 2 other Practitioners.

If you hold a minimum Level 3 qualification and have at least 3 years' experience in a Nursery setting, with proven experience as a Room Leader, then we would love to hear from you. The ideal candidate would hold a QTS or EYT qualification.



You must have a comprehensive knowledge of the EYFS, be a great people leader and team player.

Your Responsibilities will include:



Ensuring excellent standards are consistently maintained within your room, and assisting the Manager to do so



o Excellent organisation of all aspects of the room

o Health & safety of the room and premises

o Clear routine established for team and children

o High standards and expectations of learning, development and overall well-being

o Support the induction of new team members and actively coach and develop your team through room meetings & daily interactions

o Identify training needs and development opportunities for your team & yourself and communicate with Manager

Ensuring that the EYFS curriculum is implemented through imaginative, creative and child-led initiatives



o High quality planning, observations and activities to ensure the children are challenged across all areas of their learning and development - both indoors and outdoors

o Keeping abreast of Ofsted and other statutory changes such as changes to EYFS, EIF and Development Matters and ensuring they are effectively implemented in your room

o Pro-active reflection and development of the room and the team

o Pro-active support of children with additional needs - SEND/ EAL etc

o Key person responsibilities for your key children

Ensuring your team are maintaining up to date, accurate and high quality records, such as planning, observations, learning journeys and next steps



o All paperwork completed accurately & on time - risk assessments, accident forms, dietary requirements, covid cleaning schedules etc

o High quality planning & evaluation completed weekly

o Regular oversight of team observations

o Review summative assessments before Manager check

Being an exceptional Leader in the Nursery



o Exceptional people leadership and role modelling great team work to motivate your team and the wider team

o Strong partnership with parents and external agencies to support every child's learning, development and well being

o Ensure the Nursery ethos of helping every child "learn well" is embedded and executed consistently throughout the Nursery and understood by the whole team

o Adhere to and promote all Nursery policies and procedures without exception, which include the Safeguarding and Health and Safety of all children

o Pro-active role at team meetings and support Management to be solutions-led and address issues

o Opening & closing the Nursery and stepping up when the Manager may be absent

You should:



Have a true passion for working with children and developing their learning through play

Hold a minimum full and up to date Level 3 qualification (or equivalent), with Room Leader and Pre-School Room experience

Have a thorough understanding and hands-on experience of the EYFS, child development and Ofsted regulations

Show a commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children as well as the highest standards regarding confidentiality

Be able to work collaboratively alongside our team to role model living our mission and values

Have excellent communication skills with fluency in written and spoken English

Any successful candidates will need to undertake a DBS check and have references taken. We are committed to upholding the safeguarding and wellbeing of all children.

Pay: Up to 30,775.00 per year
