Room Leader - Key Responsibilities



As a Room Leader, you will support the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager in the daily operation of the nursery, leading your team to deliver high-quality care and education in line with Banana Moon Franchise policies and relevant legislation.

Leadership & Team Management



Lead and manage the daily operations of your room, setting high standards through effective role modelling and inspiring practice. Support, supervise, and mentor room staff to maintain a positive, professional, and productive working environment. Allocate tasks effectively within the team, recognising and utilising individual strengths and skills to support professional development. Organise and lead regular room meetings; contribute to staff meetings and assist with setting meeting agendas. Identify training needs through observations and supervisions, and liaise with the Manager to arrange appropriate training. Participate in staff recruitment by observing trial sessions and providing constructive feedback. Support the induction of new staff and students, offering ongoing mentoring and guidance through probationary reviews. Monitor staff performance, addressing achievements or concerns with the Manager and contributing to development plans.

Operational Duties



Liaise regularly with the Manager/Deputy to ensure compliance with all Banana Moon operational policies and relevant legislation. Ensure staff-to-child ratios are maintained at all times and rotas are followed, including effective coordination of staff breaks. Accurately maintain daily registers and attendance records. Respond professionally to any verbal or written complaints, recording and reporting them to management, and assisting in resolving issues promptly.

Health, Safety & Safeguarding



Follow all Health and Safety procedures, including completing risk assessments, hazard logs, and maintaining documentation as per the operational plan. Participate in emergency and security procedures, including fire drills, door security, and online safety (e-safety). Be vigilant to safeguarding concerns, ensuring the welfare of children and staff, and report any concerns promptly to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). Administer first aid and medication as required, keeping the Manager informed and ensuring accurate documentation is maintained. Ensure high standards of hygiene and cleanliness are upheld, with all relevant records completed.

Curriculum, Planning & Assessment



Oversee the delivery of a stimulating and well-balanced curriculum, offering both child-led and adult-led activities that reflect the children's interests, needs, and developmental stages. Ensure high-quality observations and assessments are completed regularly by all staff, supporting team members to maintain detailed, accurate developmental records. Track children's progress effectively and contribute to evaluation and planning to meet next steps. Engage parents in their child's development through regular communication, shared planning, and progress updates. Oversee the smooth and sensitive settling-in process for new children, ensuring documentation is complete and that individual routines and home life are considered to support transitions.

Quality & Continuous Improvement



Support the implementation of self-evaluation and quality improvement plans within the room. Encourage a reflective culture among the team, continuously reviewing and improving practice. Maintain a positive, inclusive, and engaging environment for both children and staff.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 25,000.00-26,000.00 per year
