We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated

Senior/Room Leader

to join our team. The successful candidate will support the Deputy Manager and Manager in the day-to-day running of the nursery, while leading and managing their designated room to ensure children receive the highest standard of care and education.

Main Duties & Responsibilities



Work alongside the Senior/Room Leader, Deputy Manager, and Nursery Manager to ensure smooth daily operations. Lead and manage your designated room, providing high-quality learning and care. Create and maintain a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment, following health and safety policies. Supervise, mentor, and support staff, volunteers, students, and placements. Promote team development through regular supervision, appraisals, and reflective practice. Plan and lead team meetings, ensuring effective communication and collaboration. Uphold and implement all nursery policies and procedures. Take on additional leadership responsibilities (e.g., SENCO, DSL) as required. Deliver a high standard of care and learning experiences in line with the EYFS framework. Keep accurate records of children's development through observations and assessments. Work in partnership with parents, carers, and external agencies to support children's well-being and development. Attend training and professional development sessions. Carry out any other reasonable duties as directed by the Nursery Manager.

Person Specification



Essential



NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Early Years. At least 2 years' experience in an early years setting. Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection. Understanding of the EYFS curriculum and child development. Paediatric first aid qualification (within the last 3 years). Strong communication and leadership skills. Ability to motivate, support, and mentor a team. Organised, with the ability to prioritise and delegate effectively. Knowledge of room organisation and free-flow environments. Competent in using IT systems for record-keeping and communication. Professional, confident, and resilient. Flexible, adaptable, and passionate about child development.

Desirable



At least 1 year of experience in a leadership role. Basic food hygiene certificate. Experience with Ofsted inspections and SEND support. Good standard of IT and numeracy skills. Desire to continue professional development (CPD). A sense of humour and collaborative approach to teamwork.
