Nursery Third in Charge - Job

Are you an experienced early years practitioner looking to take the next step in your career? We are seeking a confident, motivated, and organised Third in Charge to join our leadership team and help deliver exceptional standards of care and education.

About the Role

As the Third in Charge, you will support the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager in the day-to-day running of the setting. This is a key leadership role, requiring someone who can inspire staff, maintain compliance, and ensure that children experience a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Support the management team with daily operations across the nursery. Lead by example in delivering high-quality childcare and EYFS practice. Act as a responsible person in the absence of senior managers. Assist with planning, observations, and assessments for children's development. Maintain strong safeguarding, health & safety and compliance standards. Promote positive relationships with children, parents and team members. Contribute to rota planning, mentoring of staff and continuous improvement. Ensure rooms are well-resourced, engaging and aligned with curriculum goals.

Requirements

Minimum Level 3 Early Years qualification (Level 4/5 desirable). Previous experience as a Room Leader or Senior Practitioner. Sound understanding of the EYFS, safeguarding and statutory requirements. Strong communication, leadership and organisational skills. A positive, professional attitude and a genuine passion for early years.
