Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Nursing Assistant to provide high-quality, person-centered care for an individual living with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), who requires PEG feeding and has Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome (CVS). The role involves supporting the client in their daily living activities, health monitoring, and emotional wellbeing, while working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:



Clinical Care:



Provide personal care, including bathing, toileting, grooming, and hygiene. Administer and monitor PEG feeds according to the care plan. Support the client during CVS episodes, ensuring safety, comfort, and hydration as appropriate. Monitor and report any changes in health, behavior, or symptoms, especially related to vomiting patterns or feed tolerance. Maintain accurate documentation of care provided, fluid balance, and nutritional intake. Assist with medication administration (as delegated and appropriate). Perform infection control procedures and maintain a clean environment. Assist in positioning and mobility using appropriate moving and handling techniques.

Behavioral and Emotional Support:



Offer reassurance and emotional support during episodes of distress or disorientation. Use de-escalation techniques and person-centered approaches to manage behavior related to ABI. Promote the client's independence and involvement in decision-making where possible.

Communication & Teamwork:



Communicate effectively with the client, family members, and the wider healthcare team. Participate in care planning and regular reviews. Escalate any concerns promptly to nursing or medical staff.

Requirements:



Essential:



Previous experience in a care setting, preferably with ABI or complex needs. Competency in PEG care (training will be provided if needed). Basic understanding of Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome and emergency response protocols. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Compassionate, patient, and resilient personality. Ability to follow care plans and work under supervision. Hold a full UK Driving License with Business Insurance

Desirable:



NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent). Experience with non-verbal communication aids or cognitive impairment support. Knowledge of safeguarding and risk assessment practices.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 30 per week
