We are seeking a passionate and experienced NVQ Trainer/Assessor to join our dynamic team.
The Role:
We are looking for a dual-professional: a skilled construction tradesperson with the ability to effectively train, guide, and assess learners working towards their Construction NVQs (Levels 1-4 and potentially higher). You will be responsible for the full learner journey, from initial induction and skills development through to the rigorous assessment of competence against national occupational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Training Delivery:
Plan and deliver engaging and effective training sessions (workshop-based, classroom, or online) covering the knowledge and practical skills required for specific construction NVQs (e.g.Level 1 health and safety in construction, level 4 Site Supervision, etc.).
Adapt training methods to suit diverse learner needs and abilities.
Provide constructive feedback and support to learners throughout their qualification journey.
Maintain accurate training records and session plans.
2. Assessment:
Conduct fair, valid, reliable, and consistent assessments of learners' competence against the relevant NVQ standards in their workplace or simulated environment.
Observe learners performing practical tasks on-site or in workshops ( as per requirement of assessment.
Examine portfolios of evidence, including work products, photographs, video etc and reflective accounts.
Question learners (oral/written) to assess underpinning knowledge and understanding.
Provide clear and timely feedback on assessment decisions.
Ensure all assessment documentation is accurate, complete, and meets Awarding Organisation and met internal quality assurance requirements.
Prepare learners for End-Point Assessment (EPA) where applicable.
3. Learner Support & Progress Management:
Guide and mentor learners, providing advice on progression routes and career development within construction.
Monitor learner progress, identify potential barriers to achievement, and implement support strategies.
Maintain regular contact with learners and their employers/managers.
4. Quality & Compliance
:
Work closely with Internal Quality Assurers (IQAs) to ensure assessment practices meet standards.
Participate in standardisation meetings and continuous professional development (CPD).
Stay current with industry developments, Awarding Organisation requirements, and changes to NVQ standards and assessment practices.
Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and health & safety regulations, promoting a strong safety culture.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Proven Construction Expertise: Relevant occupational experience in one or more construction trades (e.g.Site Supervision).
Teaching and Assessor Qualifications: Hold or willing to working to ward a recognised Assessor award (e.g. PTLLS, A1, D32/D33, CAVA,AET level 3).
Trade Qualification: Hold a relevant NVQ Level 4 (or equivalent) or above in your construction trade discipline.
Industry Knowledge: Thorough understanding of current construction practices, techniques, materials, and health & safety regulations (CSCS card holder status is highly desirable).
IT Literacy: Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and relevant e-portfolio/e-assessment platforms ( training will be provided for e portfolio).
Desirable
Verifiers Award (CVA ) or be prepared to work towards this.
