The Role
We are seeking an experienced Bank Sonographer with specialist expertise in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. This role is offered on a contractor basis, and applicants must be registered -- or willing to register -- as a Limited Company. Shifts may be regular or ad-hoc, including weekday and Saturday availability. The role is based at our London clinics (Moorgate, Harley Street) and/or Richmond.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
Perform a comprehensive range of scans including pelvic, early pregnancy reassurance, and both transvaginal and transabdominal examinations.
Assess and diagnose causes of gynaecological presentations including abnormal bleeding, ovarian cysts, adenomyosis, fibroids, polyps, carcinomas, polycystic ovaries, and infertility indicators.
Interpret findings and prepare high-quality clinical reports using Viewpoint.
Escalate or refer appropriately to Consultants where required.
Patient Care
Explain procedures clearly to ensure patients feel supported and at ease.
Manage sensitive situations with professionalism and compassion, especially when delivering difficult news.
Provide expert advice and contribute to an exceptional patient experience.
Teamwork & Collaboration
Liaise with Consultants, healthcare assistants, and administrative teams for continuity of care.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
Support team operations flexibly as required.
Operational Excellence
Maintain accurate patient records.
Ensure clinical rooms and ultrasound machines are clean, safe, and compliant.
Follow governance requirements and support audits.
Maintain required CPD and training.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential
Minimum 5 years' experience in gynaecology and early pregnancy scanning.
Recent experience in NHS and private settings.
Registration with BMUS, SoR, or HCPC.
Diploma in Medical Ultrasound (or equivalent).
Evidence of ongoing professional development.
Desirable
Familiarity with Viewpoint reporting software.
Experience in high-volume clinic environments.
