Occupational Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Support Worker
is a professional who provides assistance to individuals who have experienced a brain injury, either from trauma, stroke, infection, or other causes. Their role is centered around helping these individuals regain independence and improve their quality of life through tailored support and rehabilitation.
Key Responsibilities:
Personalized Support
: Develop and implement personalized care plans based on the individual's needs, preferences, and goals.
Rehabilitation Assistance
: Work alongside occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals to assist individuals in their rehabilitation process.
Daily Living Skills
: Assist with daily activities such as dressing, cooking, managing finances, and maintaining hygiene, depending on the level of independence the person has regained.
Cognitive and Emotional Support
: Help clients cope with cognitive deficits (memory, attention, decision-making) and emotional challenges (anxiety, depression, frustration) that result from brain injury.
Encouragement and Motivation
: Offer consistent encouragement to build confidence and foster motivation during the rehabilitation process.
Physical Assistance
: Provide support with mobility, such as using walking aids or transferring between different positions (e.g., from bed to wheelchair).
Family and Caregiver Support
: Provide advice and training to family members and caregivers on how to best support the individual with ABI at home.
Monitoring Progress
: Regularly assess the client's progress and adjust the care plan as needed.
Community Integration
: Encourage social inclusion and assist clients with participating in community activities or returning to work if applicable.

Education & Qualifications:
