HS2, Britain's new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2's construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Occupational Health Advisor

Location:

Based at Fort Dunlop - this location sits on the eastern edge of Birmingham, adjacent to the M6 motorway, providing excellent transport links into the city and across the region. Fort Dunlop serves as a key hub within IPT Area North, supporting operations that span multiple sublots and regional activities. Its strategic position makes it an important point for coordination and access, with proximity to major infrastructure routes ensuring connectivity to both the Central Region and wider project areas.

Role Responsibilities:



Collate Assure OH compliance across the BBV project, supporting managers to meet statutory requirements. Lead subcontractor and supply chain OH assurance activities, including audits, follow-up actions and documented outcomes. Support HS2 assurance submissions and BBV's wider health governance reporting. Act as the first point of contact for non-clinical OH queries, ensuring matters are directed appropriately to the OH provider, Head of OH, or internal teams. Respond to day-to-day operational issues such as appointment queries, access to services, worker questions and clarification of OH processes. Monitor routine service outputs (e.g., appointment attendance, report timeliness, escalations) to identify issues early and ensure follow-up without directing clinical delivery. Log, escalate and track operational problems or delays from the OH provider through to resolution, maintaining BBV oversight of service quality.

Essential Experience:



A background in Health & Safety, wellbeing, compliance, operational support, or another relevant field, with a willingness to learn Occupational Health processes and requirements. Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, adapt and manage competing demands. High attention to detail and accuracy, with strong administrative capability. Competent in Microsoft Office 365, including producing reports, presentations, tracking information and handling data. Confident in reviewing, interpreting and presenting management information. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with confident presentation ability. Strong stakeholder engagement skills and able to build positive working relationships across teams and levels. Proactive, adaptable and comfortable working with ambiguity or changing priorities. Able to work independently and take ownership of tasks. Collaborative, approachable and able to build trust with colleagues at all levels.
