The team drive continuous improvement by handling customer feedback, overseeing compliance, and coordinating resources and operational workflows. Together, they uphold high standards of safety, quality, and professionalism to deliver a consistent and effective Occupational Health service across the Network Rail network.
What does the average day look like?
As our Occupational Health Service Delivery Manager, you'll play a key role in keeping our people safe, healthy, and supported. Leading a dedicated team of Medical Coordinators, you'll make sure high-quality occupational health services are delivered seamlessly across the country.
No two days will be the same. From resolving national escalations to analysing clinic performance and shaping improvements, you'll be at the heart of a service that underpins the wellbeing of thousands of colleagues. You'll collaborate with internal teams, external suppliers, and senior stakeholders - building strong relationships that help us deliver the best possible outcomes.
This role is about more than managing operations; it's about driving innovation and continuous improvement. You'll listen to customer feedback, spot opportunities to enhance service delivery, and develop cost-effective solutions that make a real difference.
You'll also take ownership of critical processes - from risk assessments and compliance to equipment maintenance and national health surveillance programmes. With live IT platforms at your fingertips, you'll oversee planning, resourcing, and reporting to keep services running smoothly.

Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in Occupational Health or Operational Management, ideally with a relevant qualification. You'll have strong customer service skills and a deep understanding of occupational health services, alongside a track record of successfully managing teams. You are confident in influencing senior stakeholders, handling sensitive conversations, and applying sound judgment in complex operational settings.
Essential Criteria
o
Successful experience and/or professional qualification in an Occupational Health or Operational Management role.
o Excellent customer service and service delivery skills, ideally within an Occupational Health environment
o Proven experience of successfully managing a team
o Demonstrable knowledge of the definition, purpose and key functions of an occupational health service
o
Proven ability to influence and negotiate up to a senior level
o
Demonstrable experience of handling sensitive and/or high-stake conversations
o Demonstrable experience of managing complex diaries using digital scheduling systems
o Demonstrable experience of applying sound judgment in managing operational service delivery within a healthcare or occupational health setting
o Proven computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office software
o Knowledge and understanding of handling special category data under GDPR including confidentiality
o
Willingness and ability to travel within the regional area, as required, to support service delivery
