Band 5 Occupational Therapist - Forensic Mental Health Service
Location: Stirchley, Birmingham
Salary: 30,381 - 36,480 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
The site offers a service to adults requiring care and treatment within a secure inpatient setting. We have male and female provision, as well as an older adult service.
About the Service
Our Forensic Mental Health Service provides specialist assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for adults with complex mental health needs who are involved with the criminal justice system. We work within a secure environment, supporting individuals to develop the skills and confidence to live safe, meaningful, and independent lives.
You'll be part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team that includes psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, and other allied health professionals -- all committed to recovery-focused, trauma-informed, and person-centred care.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and compassionate
Occupational Therapist
to join our team. As a
Band 5 OT
, you'll assess and support service users in developing functional, social, and vocational skills that enhance their quality of life and aid their progression through the secure care pathway.
You'll work across wards and therapeutic environments, delivering both individual and group interventions that promote occupational engagement, wellbeing, and recovery. You'll also have opportunities to contribute to service development and innovation within a dynamic forensic setting.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments using evidence-based tools and approaches.
Plan, implement, and evaluate tailored treatment programmes in collaboration with service users and the multidisciplinary team.
Facilitate a range of therapeutic and rehabilitative groups focused on life skills, social interaction, and meaningful occupation.
Contribute to risk assessment and management plans.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with professional and trust standards.
Participate in regular supervision and continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities.
