Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist who is passionate about applying occupational therapy within a PICU mental health setting. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified Occupational Therapist seeking to begin their career in an inpatient mental health environment, as well as for those with existing experience looking for a new challenge.



Harvest Ward provides care and treatment to patients over the age of 18 who require high levels of support for short periods of time as part of their recovery. You will be part of a dedicated multi-disciplinary team committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.

You will need excellent communication, organisational and prioritisation skills to work effectively in this busy environment. You will provide occupational therapy assessments and interventions to help patients maintain and restore their roles, routines and skills disrupted by mental illness, while contributing a distinct occupational perspective to care planning and discharge processes.



You will model clinical reasoning to other members of the ward team, support coordination of day-to-day therapy provision, and take an active role in leading local occupational therapy service initiatives.



The in-patient occupational therapy service is committed to service innovation, evidence-based practice and professional development. You will benefit from monthly best practice meetings, regular supervision with a band 6 Occupational therapist as well as support from the Professional Lead Occupational Therapist who is based on site. This is also opportunities for continuing professional development (CPD) through links with the University of Plymouth.



As part of a growing network of Occupational Therapists within the Trust, you will receive regular professional supervision and be invited to participate in our monthly best practice forum. These sessions include guest speakers and focus on the latest developments, research, and opportunities within and beyond the Trust
