An opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist (OT) to join the Trust on a permanent basis. The role will provide professional advice, assessment, care planning and review for 28 residents across 2 homes, which provide lifelong care for people with Profound and Multiple Learning and Physical Disabilities (PMLD).
The successful candidate will work with all lifelong residents to design, plan and deliver a range of prescribed therapeutic programmes, to individuals or groups of residents, as part of an overall care package. In addition, you will contribute to the risk assessment, monitoring and safe use of relevant equipment and occupational therapy activity.
You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary therapy team, which also includes Speech & Language Therapist, Complementary Therapist, Music Therapist and Physiotherapists; and will have Therapy Assistants to support you at each home.
The multidisciplinary therapy team works in collaboration with a well-resourced, experienced and skilled workforce of nurses, nursing associates and carers to deliver complex, individualised, holistic care to residents of all ages.
The homes are well resourced with state-of-the-art equipment and environments, which are conducive to health and wellbeing; and are well-staffed to provide a range of care and therapies to motivate, stimulate and keep the residents safe.
Ideally you will be 12 months post-qualification, with a recognised degree in occupational therapy and current registration and revalidation with a recognised professional body (HCPC or RCOT).
You will be given a high degree of autonomy, independence and authority in your personal delivery of the role, within your professional boundaries. You will therefore have a degree of freedom to be creative in how you respond to challenges and manage yourself and the role. You will need to be experienced, confident, self-aware and competent in your practice.
In addition, you will be expected to demonstrate and commit to continual professional development; and be passionate about PMLD and physical disability and optimising individual potential.
This role will report to the Therapy Team Manager and be responsible to the Registered Manager, working in conjunction with another experienced OT.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a unique environment with a supportive team, whose common goal is to provide exemplary care and empower our residents to lead fulfilled lives.
