Are you a newly qualified, returning to practice or an experienced Occupational Therapist (OT)? Westlands are looking for an enthusiastic occupational therapist to join our team. This is an exciting and rare opportunity for a band 5 to 6 progression post for an occupational therapist. Over the course of 18 months support will be put in place to support the transition to become a band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist.
Working at Westlands provides the opportunity for learning and development. The multidisciplinary team will provide support for the successful candidate to practice of holistic occupational therapy skills across a range of settings and diagnosis.
Please note that we welcome applications from students nearing qualification or awaiting their HCPC registration.
You will have access to clinical supervision from a senior occupational therapy colleague who will support your development. You will also have access to OT peer support from other Occupational Therapists within the inpatient mental health hub and access to CPD opportunities through the OT mental health CPD group.
The post-holders will be expected to assess and deliver evidence-based OT interventions, to facilitate wellbeing and optimise independent functioning in self-care, productivity and leisure activities, from an occupational perspective.
There may be an expectation to be involved in projects or service developments happening within teams allowing the post-holder to develop their skills within this area.
All Occupational Therapists have access to supervision and CPD networks.
The Trust has a very good Preceptorship programme, which dovetails well with more specific OT preceptorship requirements. Training is supported, together with leadership development programmes. We are committed to undergraduate student education, with occupational therapists encouraged after a reasonable period, to undertake the SLiP training and facilitate student placements.
This will be a development post therefore starting rate is at band 5, with a view to develop into a band 6 specialist occupational therapist within 18 months.
