We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team providing specialised assessment and intervention services for children and/or adults (based on your specialism) with learning disabilities across North West London.
Working with The OT Centre, an established private OT service provider, as a self-employed practitioner, you'll have professional autonomy and flexibility while supporting diverse clients and sectors of your choice including statutory services, schools, legal services, and private individuals.
We currently have a waiting list of referrals from statutory healthcare services with ongoing case flow, offering consistent work opportunities for the right candidate.
The role offers flexible working patterns of approximately 2-3 days per week for an established caseload with competitive hourly rates of 50-55 per hour based on qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities
You will be providing assessment and therapeutic intervention for adults or children with learning disabilities (depending on your experience) across various community settings in North West London including clients' homes and schools.
Your responsibilities will include:
Conducting comprehensive assessments of sensory, physical, emotional, and functional needs
Developing tailored intervention plans based on individual needs, abilities, and goals
Delivering ongoing therapeutic interventions including sensory integration approaches, functional skills training, and environmental modifications
Providing advice and training to families, carers, support staff, and education teams
Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic, person-centered care
Maintaining accurate documentation and producing high-quality assessment reports
Monitoring progress and adjusting intervention plans as needed
Staying current with evidence-based practice in learning disability and sensory integration
Requirements
Essential:
A degree or post-graduate certificate in Occupational Therapy and current HCPC registration
Experience working with learning disabilities in either adult or paediatric populations (or both)
Either extensive practical experience using Sensory Integration approaches OR SI postgraduate qualification
Strong assessment, clinical reasoning, and report writing skills
Excellent communication skills with clients, families, and professionals
Desirable:
Sensory Integration postgraduate qualification (Level 3 or above)
Experience working in community settings across multiple sectors
Understanding of EHCP processes and statutory service frameworks
Experience delivering training to staff teams
