About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and skilled

Occupational Therapist

to join the team and provide high-quality assessments, interventions and support to service users. This is a standard OT role involving functional assessments, home visits, equipment recommendations and clinical decision-making to promote independence and wellbeing.



In addition, the successful candidate will be required to

collect, deliver, install and demonstrate the safe use of small equipment

(such as bath boards, toilet frames, and commodes) from a local equipment store. A car driver is preferred, but not essential -- taxi expenses will be reimbursed where required.



This role is ideal for an OT who is confident working independently in the community and committed to enabling people to live safely and independently at home.

Key Responsibilities

Occupational Therapy Practice



Complete functional assessments of service users in their homes or community settings. Identify needs and recommend appropriate equipment, adaptations or support services. Develop tailored intervention plans to maximise independence, safety and quality of life. Review and evaluate outcomes, adjusting interventions as needed.

Equipment Delivery & Demonstration



Collect small pieces of equipment from the local equipment store. Deliver and install items such as bath boards, toilet frames and commodes in service users' homes. Demonstrate safe use of all equipment and ensure service users understand how to use them correctly. Record all equipment issued in line with service procedures.

Safeguarding & Risk Management



Identify and escalate safeguarding concerns in line with policy. Carry out risk assessments and adapt interventions to ensure safety always. Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation.

Multi-Agency Working



Liaise effectively with colleagues, carers, health professionals and partner agencies. Participate in case discussions, reviews and team meetings. Contribute to integrated working to support holistic care planning.

General Professional Duties



Maintain professional standards in accordance with HCPC requirements. Ensure all work complies with organisational policies and procedures. Participate in supervision, training and continuing professional development.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Essential Skills & Experience



Qualified Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration. Experience conducting assessments, planning interventions and recommending equipment. Ability to install and demonstrate small aids/equipment safely. Strong communication skills with the ability to work empathetically and professionally with service users. Good organisational skills with the ability to manage caseloads independently. Ability to assess risks and implement safe working practices.

Desirable



Car driver with access to a vehicle (preferred but not essential). Experience working within local authority or community OT services. Knowledge of manual handling, equipment provision and home adaptations.
