Abil-OT is a busy, neuro-affirmative paediatric occupational therapy clinic based in Newry, supporting autistic and neurodivergent children and their families across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
We are seeking an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our growing private practice, primarily delivering 1:1 paediatric therapy interventions within our clinic setting. The initial focus of the role will be on intervention and family support, with opportunities for progression into advanced clinical roles, assessments, and specialist practice over time for the right candidate.
This role is ideal for an OT who enjoys hands-on clinical work, values reflective practice, and is keen to develop their skills within a supportive, well-supervised private clinic environment
Responsibilities
Deliver individualised 1:1 occupational therapy intervention sessions for children with neurodevelopmental and sensory-motor needs
Implement therapy programmes designed by senior clinicians, focusing on regulation, motor skills, self-care, play, and functional participation
Use child-led, strengths-based and neuro-affirmative approaches within therapy sessions
Work closely with parents and caregivers, providing practical strategies and guidance to support carryover at home
Contribute to therapy plans, session notes, and progress updates under the guidance of senior clinicians
Liaise with schools, preschools, and other professionals as required in relation to therapy programmes
Maintain clear and timely clinical documentation in line with clinic standards
Participate in regular supervision, team meetings, and continuing professional development
Skills
Essential
Degree in Occupational Therapy and HCPC registration
Interest in paediatric and/or neurodevelopmental practice
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with children and families
Organised, reliable, and able to manage a therapy caseload within a private clinic setting
Commitment to neuro-affirmative, child-led and family-centred practice
Desirable
Experience working with autistic and neurodivergent children
Experience delivering paediatric intervention programmes
Interest in sensory integration, regulation, or motor development
Experience in private practice, community paediatrics, or early intervention
Willingness to explore CORU registration to support cross-border clinical work, with guidance and support from the clinic
