We are looking to recruit an Occupational Therapist to join our client. This is a full time/37.5 hours role.
Located in Edmonton, North London, this site offers acute and secure services for adult females. We have two medium secure wards, one low secure and one acute ward.
We offer specialist mental health care to people who are unwell and are considered to be unable to look after themselves in the community. We offer specialist assessment, treatment and care to patients with severe mental illness, complex needs and people who require an environment with security and safety.
The acute and PICU services aim to allow more people to be treated closer to home and we support the NHS to repatriate out-of-area patients back to local areas.
You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.
Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' physical, cognitive, emotional, and environmental needs to identify barriers to daily living
Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans that address functional goals like self?care, work, education, and leisure .
Recommend and provide adaptive equipment and environmental modifications, teaching clients how to use and integrate tools effectively
Deliver therapy through individual and group sessions, employing methods such as therapeutic exercises, sensory integration, and coping skills training
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and liaise with caregivers, documenting progress, adjusting care plans, and advocating for clients within healthcare and social support system
The ideal candidate will hold a BSc (Hons) or Diploma in Occupational Therapy and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). They should have prior experience working within an Occupational Therapy setting, ideally with exposure to specialist areas such as neuro-rehabilitation. Strong communication skills are essential to build and maintain productive, therapeutic relationships with patients, using effective coaching and counselling techniques. In addition, the role requires highly developed interpersonal skills to navigate complex or challenging situations while providing compassionate support. Working within this environment can be physically, emotionally, and sensory demanding, but with your clinical expertise and the support of our team, you will play a key role in transforming the lives of those in our care.
