An exciting opportunity has arisen for an
Occupational Therapist
to join a dedicated and collaborative therapy team within a specialist secondary provision supporting students with a range of special educational needs, including speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) and autistic spectrum conditions (ASC).
This role offers the chance to work in a richly resourced and purpose-built educational setting, including access to outdoor learning spaces, sensory rooms, and other specialist facilities designed to support the learning and independence of young people.
About the Role: As an Occupational Therapist, you will contribute to the development and implementation of therapy strategies that promote independence, engagement, and participation in daily life and learning. You will work closely with education staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure the individual physical, sensory, and functional needs of each student are supported.
Key Responsibilities: Deliver individual and group therapy sessions to support fine motor skills, gross motor coordination, sensory processing, handwriting, and daily living skills.
Develop tailored therapy plans and resources such as visual aids, task sheets, and sensory tools to support student engagement and access to learning.
Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and therapists to embed therapeutic strategies into daily routines and classroom activities.
Monitor and report on student progress, behaviour, and therapy outcomes in line with professional standards, maintaining strict confidentiality.
Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, reviews, and liaison with families and external professionals.
Contribute to the preparation and maintenance of therapy spaces and equipment, ensuring health and safety standards are met.
Support the wider team through training, supervision, and the sharing of professional knowledge and expertise.
Stay up to date with relevant research, training, and best practice to enhance the service provided.
Requirements: Qualified Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration (or eligibility).
Experience or interest in working with children and young people with SEN, including ASC and SLCN.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a transdisciplinary team.
