Occupational Therapist - Band 7 - Full time - 37.5 hours per week (7 day working contract of no more than 1 in 6 weekends)

This Health Board Occupational Therapy Service which offers a wealth of experience, diversity and progression is currently looking for a Band 7 Occupational Therapist in the front door acute service at a local Hospital.

The post will allow the successful applicant the opportunity to work collaboratively within an integrated multi-disciplinary team. You will provide specialist assessment, goal directed intervention and rehabilitation to?patients in the setting.

You will be required to work closely with MDT colleagues and contribute to the development of a high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy service. You will have an opportunity to help shape and promote the service, providing you with a unique opportunity to engage in service development and change.

You will need excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills and sound clinical knowledge, but enthusiasm and the potential to develop these within the post will also be valued. As such, you will be provided with a variety of opportunities to develop your leadership, management and clinical skills.

Main duties of the job



The role will be responsible for the management and development of the service as well as maintaining a clinical caseload. A commitment to collaborative working with the Multi-Disciplinary Team is essential. We actively support the education of Occupational Therapy students within our service.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and clinical skills, along with experience of service development and quality improvement.

To manage a defined caseload within specialist area, using evidence based /client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the outcomes of intervention where appropriate; hospital, community, patients' homes, schools, outpatient settings and maintaining associated records. To organise this efficiently and effectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.

To ensure clinical records are kept to agreed standards and report accurately to others.

To work in partnership with clients, carers and all stake holders including the multidisciplinary/ multi agency team to identify relevant goals.

To provide leadership and supervision for junior staff, as delegated by supervisor /team leader.

You will be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, the contract hours includes a 7-day shift pattern, with extended working hours covering 365days of the year.

Qualifications Essential Criteria



Degree in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent OT qualification) Professional Registration with HCPC Specific recognised postgraduate training / courses relevant to specialist area equivalent to masters level Accredited fieldwork supervisor for the education of OT students

Desirable criteria



Leadership / management training Membership of professional body BAOT

Experience and Knowledge Essential criteria



Experience of autonomous caseload management, comprising assessment, planning intervention and evaluation within relevant clinical area Experience of multi-agency working Knowledge of OT role in this setting Knowledge of the principles of Clinical Governance and the ability to apply to working practice.

Desirable criteria



Experience of research and / or audit and implementing evidence based practice

Pay: 46,840.00-53,602.00 per year
