About the Community Occupational Therapy and Sensory Service

The team co-ordinates the provision of occupational therapy and sensory services, advising on equipment and adaptations for the short term as well as complex specialist long term support in the community.



The service ensures the delivery of high quality, person centred, strengths based practice that champions the independence and wellbeing of Hackney's residents.



We focus on the assessment of individuals within a home environment and managing complex casework related to physical disabilities and the provision of specialist equipment and adaptations.



This service boasts an integrated adaptation and home improvement service which work in partnership and alongside the occupational therapy and sensory service.



Care Act Assessments are completed collaboratively with the resident, family members, carers, and other involved professionals, to ensure that the service users long-term care and support needs are assessed and that any newly arising concerns or needs are addressed.

Candidates will need to:

Promote inclusive, practice across your team and champion the occupational therapy profession within and beyond the organisation Use critical reflection to enhance your own and others' practice, recognise knowledge gaps and foster a culture of learning Apply ethical, legal, and human rights frameworks to complex decision-making Experience and enthusiasm in policy development and to lead the team through transformational improvements within Adult Social Care Demonstrate awareness of effective OT and social care models and interventions Experience of analysing and reporting on performance through the use of data and dashboards A commitment to recruitment and retention of staff and growing our permanent workforce Deputise for the Deputy Head of Service and Therapy Lead and support fellow Team Managers as required

Qualifications and Professional Registration

You will need to be a qualified Occupational Therapist and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. You will also have a significant level of post qualification experience within statutory Adult Services as a senior practitioner or at team manager level.



You will need to have experience of managing Adult Social Care staff, providing professional supervision to Occupational Therapists, OTA's, Trusted Assessors, Students and applying HR policies and procedures.



You will need to have experience of working with a range of adults that are eligible for adult social care.



You will be required to promote a culture of integrated working and high-quality person centred practice.

An Enhanced DBS is required for this role
