Providence Unit (Assessment and Stabilisation Unit) and Moira Unit (Treatment and Intervention Unit) are our two units and we require passionate, committed, hard-working staff to work as part of our multi disciplinary team

We are looking for an
Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA)
to join our team. The successful candidate will work across both Providence and Moira Unit and with any young people in out reach where appropriate. Our focus is on increasing independence, improving quality of life and promoting social inclusion for the young people in our care. Under the supervision of a registered Occupational Therapist, you will deliver evidence-based interventions to support young people with complex behavioural and mental health needs in their recovery.
As an Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will be responsible for delivery of individual and group activities within the unit and in the community. Additionally you will be asked to support the Occupational Therapist in carrying out assessments, formulations, risk assessments and run therapy programmes as well produce electronic records.
The Occupational Therapy team look to support individuals in maximizing their quality of their life in the least restrictive manner possible. You will be asked to contribute to care planning and risk assessments of patients as appropriate to maintain and improve their level of functioning while with us and prepare them for discharge. The role will involve following a weekly structured timetable developed by the Occupational Therapist and being present on the unit on a daily basis to encourage the patients to engage in meaningful activities to enhance their quality of life
MAIN DUTIES-
To support the Occupational Therapist with the preparation, planning and delivery of groups and one-to-one occupational, therapeutic and recreational activities
Completion of group protocols, risk assessments and security checklists
Promote Occupational Therapy and its values within the unit
Observing, recording and reporting patient responses to the Occupational Therapist
Ensuring effective, timely and accurate updating of clinical records and note keeping.
Assist in the treatment and rehabilitation of young people, assisting them to achieve optimum independence and safety.
Ensures that written and electronic records and activity data are maintained in accordance with professional standards and company policy

Engages actively in supervision and appraisal.
To have a comprehensive understanding of safeguarding processes, recording and reporting.
Reviews and reflects on own practice and performance and implements changes accordingly.
Completes all relevant training, including mandatory training.
Ensures practice is underpinned by the principles of clinical governance.
Exercises good personal time management, punctuality and consistent reliable attendance.
Understands the range of risks potentially faced by the service user both generic and occupationally focussed.
Recognise potential crisis situations and acts responsively and responsibly to resolve the situation, seeking assistance if required.
Is aware of the vulnerability of service users and act in accordance with relevant company policies and procedures.
Manage and escalate concerns regards care and treatment and promote the whistle blowing policy so staff are aware of how it works.
To act promptly on safeguarding issues, raising them and, if necessary, referring safeguarding issues to the local authority - who have the local legal responsibility for safeguarding - and the police, where appropriate, to make sure action is taken to keep children and adults safe.
HOURS
The contracted hours are 37.5 hours per week. As part of this you would be required to work:
1 weekend per month
1 late per week
