We have a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our friendly team at Kings Norton Hospital in Birmingham, part of a 9 month maternity leave cover, with possibility of it being extended to 12 months.
We are committed to providing high-quality intensive treatment in a clinically safe, caring, and secure environment for adults of all genders with severe and complex mental health conditions.
At Kings Norton Hospital we have three acute wards, which cater to patients who need to step down from a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) setting or those experiencing complex, severe, or prolonged mental health issues.
We also have several therapy rooms and an occupational therapy kitchen and a gym to help individuals re-gain life skills and work towards independent living.
The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide therapeutic interventions under the supervision of the Lead Occupational Therapist.

What you'll be working:
As an Occupational Therapy Assistant you will work 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
What you'll be doing
Work with patients across the hospital to enable them to develop their domestic, self-care, social work or leisure skills as appropriate for each individual under the guidance and supervision of a qualified Occupational Therapist.
Observe the general behaviour, mood, ability, and response of patients during sessions and respond as appropriate.
Make accurate and clear entries in patients' clinical records.
Feedback patients' engagement and progress to the appropriate occupational therapist or other multi-disciplinary team member as and when requested to do so.
Attend and contribute to meetings and clinical discussions as appropriate.
Take responsibility for planning and facilitating specific therapeutic groups under the supervision of a qualified occupational therapist.
Accompany patients on social and therapeutic outings as requested, in line with the Mental Health Act.
Keeping people safe from harm and protecting their human rights.
What you'll have:
A passion for providing person centred care
Positive and enthusiastic attitude
The ability to communicate effectively at all levels
Experience of organising activities and working within the care sector / mental health would be an advantage but not essential
Be able to encourage and engage people in a range of activities
Successful candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS
