Job description

Leicester is a vibrant, exciting and diverse city with a lot of complex needs, offering a variety of interesting challenges. That's why we're proud of the different approaches we take to support people across the city. Within Occupational therapy we are committed to helping people live easily and safely in the place they call home.

We have three Occupational Therapy Teams each working with children, adults with learning disabilities, adults with disabilities and older people including major adaptations. Our front door Team also has Occupational Therapy staff and trusted assessors to promote getting the right support at the right time. We are changing our attitudes, assumptions, and expectations so that the people we work with live easily and safely in the place they call home. This vacancy is in our adult social care front door team and ensures Occupational Therapy drives early intervention and independence. The Principal Occupational Therapist provides professional support to the post holder.

Join us and you'll find a supportive team and a culture that focuses on the individual by doing the right thing to produce the best outcomes for them. And you'll enjoy working in an environment that offers plenty of opportunities to develop your expertise, trusts your professional judgement and encourages you to build a rewarding career.

As a leader at the council, you'll help us to navigate a variety of complex challenges to meet the needs of the people of Leicester. That means using your leadership skills to balance public need and political expectations and deliver real value for the city.

You'll have a flexible approach to working location to include office, site based and home based, to fit the needs of the service. Typically, Mon - Fri office hours with some flexibility as required.

What you'll be doing

You'll work in collaboration key partners including health, housing etc., as well as colleagues from health and social care to ensure that all the people that draw upon your support have the opportunities they need to live, learn, thrive, and achieve.

You'll ensuring that our statutory duties are met through the delivery of high-quality support through the lens of Occupational Therapy. Creating a culture of respect, collaboration and inclusion so that your team, the people who work with us and the people we support can thrive. Leading by example, demonstrating and championing the role that the council should play in building good lives, within the organisation and with system partners.

You will help create a reflective environment that enables staff to learn, develop and progress and for the voice of people who draw on support to be genuinely influential in service development and improvement.

In practical terms this will involve, managing a team of qualified OTs, non-qualified OTs and Team Support Workers creating robust procedures, engaging with people who use our services and working collaboratively with partners.
