The Office and Communications Associate is a new role created to ensure SLP College runs smoothly, keeping everyone connected and informed. You'll provide trusted support to our Senior Leadership Team, support key operational systems, and coordinate clear, engaging internal and external communications.
This role suits someone highly organised, proactive, and creative, with strong digital communication skills. You'll be central to our College's success, working closely with students, staff, and external partners to bring our values and standards to life every day.
Key Responsibilities
Senior Leadership Support:
Provide trusted administrative support to the Senior Leadership Team, managing appointments and day-to-day priorities.
Prepare clear agendas, accurately record minutes, and ensure follow-up actions from senior leadership meetings are tracked and completed.
Draft, edit, and proofread correspondence, reports, briefings, and internal communications to a high professional standard.
Internal Communications
Create and distribute timely, clear, and engaging internal messages to staff and students.
Coordinate the creation and publication of essential internal resources, including handbooks, guides, posters, show programmes, and displays.
Organise and maintain shared drives and internal resources, ensuring they are accurate, accessible, and up-to-date.
External Communications & Content Support
Liaise with our social media lead, supporting the production of engaging written and visual content.
Write, edit, and proofread external content such as website copy, newsletters, alumni communications, and press releases.
Act as the first point of contact for external enquiries, responding professionally, warmly, and promptly.
Operational Coordination
Oversee essential internal systems, including attendance registers, studio bookings, and planning calendars.
Liaise closely with teaching staff and administration teams to ensure clear communication, accurate scheduling, and effective planning across the College.
Maintain meticulous records for compliance purposes, including attendance tracking, safeguarding documentation, and College policy logs.
Safeguarding, Compliance & Welfare
Follow and actively promote SLP College's safeguarding, data protection (GDPR), and confidentiality procedures at all times.
Ensure all communications and operations align fully with regulatory and quality standards, keeping student wellbeing central to decision-making.
Person Specification
ESSENTIAL
Qualifications
Good standard of general education, with GCSE-level qualifications or equivalent practical experience.
Knowledge
Excellent understanding of effective internal and external communication practices.
Strong understanding of digital communication platforms and content design tools such as Canva.
Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams) and digital resource management.
Skills
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to tailor messages for different audiences.
Strong organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise tasks effectively, manage multiple projects, and deliver under pressure.
Proficient in creating visually appealing and engaging content for digital communications.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion, professionalism, and integrity.
Experience
Proven experience in communications, administrative, operational, or executive support role.

Practical experience using email marketing or CRM platforms such as Mailchimp or Hubspot.
Skills in basic graphic design or content creation for newsletters, websites, and promotional material.
Previous experience within education, performing arts, or creative industries.
Experience coordinating internal communications, developing tone-of-voice guidelines, or contributing to strategic communications planning.
Creative thinker, open to new ideas, and willing to contribute fresh approaches to enhance College communications and operations.
