NanoSyrinx is an award-winning synthetic biology company focused on a novel targeted drug delivery technology with the vision of fundamentally revolutionising how biological medicines are delivered into cells. To do this, we are leveraging one of nature's own elegant solutions: naturally occurring, bacterial protein 'nanosyringes', capable of encapsulating and delivering therapeutic payloads in a cell specific manner, with nano-scale precision.

As a discovery stage, seed-funded company, now is the perfect opportunity to join the growing NanoSyrinx family! You will be joining us at a pivotal time, with the chance to have a large impact on how the company and its technology develops toward future applications.

The company leadership team includes Dr. Joe Healey, the CEO and co-founder of the company, who conducted his PhD research on the technology in the lab of Prof. Nick Waterfield (co-founder) at the University of Warwick Medical School, Dr. James Lapworth, Chief Business Officer, who joined from Warwick Innovations, the technology transfer office of the University of Warwick and Dr. Marie McAvoy, Chief Scientific Officer, who has a wealth of experience on vaccines, biopharmaceuticals and cell and gene therapies gained from working in biotech and pharma companies.

ABOUT THE TEAM



You will be joining a full-time team of 17, including 13 scientists plus the office and leadership team. While each role has distinct responsibilities and technical remits, you are first and foremost joining a team, and we are looking for candidates who are excited to work collaboratively and flexibly as part of a close-knit and friendly group, with initiative, toward a common goal.

The company operates labs on the University of Warwick site and the normal place of work will be our offices on the University campus or adjoining Science Park from time to time.

ROLE MISSIONS



You will be joining NanoSyrinx at a pivotal time in its development. We are entering a period of fast growth and intense activity as we build out our platform for a move toward therapeutic proofs-of-concept. In this position you will:

As an Exec Assistant:

Provide organisational support to the company leadership and wider technical team. This would include for example: calendar management, travel arrangements, correspondence, board meetings and company event arrangement etc. Coordinate meetings, take and disseminate notes if required, and assist in document preparation.
As office manager:

Take ownership of the office operations and help us to build robust ways of working for the future, such as developing our operating and human resource policies. Perform day to day activities, such as document filing, answering calls and ensuring the smooth operation of the office. Organising and assisting with recruitment and onboarding for new employees An ideal candidate will have experience handling financial matters such as processing payroll and invoices, as well as dealing with expenses and travel etc., preferably being proficient with Xero, but this is not essential. Be a primary point of contact for all company employees for routine HR matters, queries and other day-to-day operational needs, responding to and resolving issues in a timely manner.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED



As an

Office Administrator & Executive Assistant

, you will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company offices, and assisting the leadership team with corporate affairs. For this position, you will need to be able to demonstrate organisational/administrative ability, ideally within a scientific setting (though this is not essential). An ideal candidate for this role will also be well versed in the use of Xero accounting software, and have experience in processing financial matters such as payroll, employee expenses, processing invoices etc.

For this role, the following criteria are:



Essential



Able to prove prior experience or an aptitude for organisation/administration

Highly organised and able to prioritise tasks, but able to handle rapidly shifting demands

A strong sense of initiative and the ability to 'make things happen'

Proficient with all modern office software (Microsoft Office suite as a minimum, but GSuite will be a significant advantage, as will comfort with a Mac ecosystem)

Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team

Reliability and discretion particularly when handling sensitive/confidential materials

Desirable



Prior experience in Human Resources (such as handling staff enquiries) with a good understanding of the requirements of GDPR when handling sensitive data, and the ability to build compliant processes

Proficiency with Xero for accounting and prior experience handling company financial matters such as payroll, expenses etc

Familiarity with compliance filings, such as Companies House statements and HMRC processes

A sciences graduate or experience working within the biotech/research space, or within academia would be advantageous
