Reporting directly to the Project Manager (PM) or Project Director (PD), as Off Site Engineer you will be responsible for leading and supporting the technical delivery of the tenders and supporting current projects.
As a key part of the Off Site Engineering team, you would act as the Engineer for tender delivery. This will involve full responsibility for tender submissions ensuring all aspects of technical compliance, to ensure all deliverables are met. This will include developing and documenting detailed tender stage methodologies, programmes and pricing information to ensure compliant and competitive tender submissions.
When required you will support the site delivery teams by fully developing, planning, resourcing, arranging and supporting the implementation of buildable and economic engineering solutions for a given package of work.
In fulfilling these roles you will be expected to work independently to provide workable solutions while interfacing between sub-contractors, site delivery, QA/QC inspection, design functions to provide technical support for all aspects of the project, as required by the PM.
The role will involve coordination with our internal designers and engineering team in HQ to align the wider business engineering strategy with site support requirements.
Responsibilities
All aspects of tender delivery with full responsibility for tender submissions.
Developing innovative construction methodologies.
Value engineer solutions as part of tender bids and live project challenges.
Ownership of Tender stage programmes to effectively plan project delivery including adequate resource allowance to deliver the works.
Health & Safety implementation in accordance with legislation and internal processes
Coordinating design work associated with the project
Producing and developing technical methodologies (both written and in graphic form)
Technical report writing
Managing the production of quality documents
Management of sub-contractors including sending out and analysing enquiries
Ensure adequate resource allowances
Work with the commercial team to identify change and quantify the time and cost impact of activities

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Qualifications and Experience
Must have a relevant degree (Civil/structural/mechanical) or equivalent professional/vocational qualifications, working towards Chartered status
Significant demonstrable experience (5 years minimum) in bridge works, highways or major civil engineering projects
Experience of design management on both permanent and temporary works
Experience pricing works
Demonstrable experience planning and sequencing complex engineering projects
