Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated, experienced, and compassionate Registered Manager to lead our children's residential home, ensuring that every child receives the highest standards of care, support, and safeguarding in a nurturing, therapeutic environment.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in residential childcare management, strong leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of trauma-informed and child-centred practice. You will play a key role in creating a safe, stable, and emotionally warm environment that enables children to heal, thrive, and achieve positive outcomes.

This role requires strategic oversight, excellent communication and organisational skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement in line with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the children's home, ensuring full compliance with Ofsted regulations, safeguarding requirements, and organisational policies. Ensure the home consistently meets and exceeds the Quality Standards and is inspection-ready at all times. Develop, implement, and regularly review individualised care and placement plans that reflect each child's unique needs, experiences, and aspirations. Promote a trauma-informed, therapeutic culture that prioritises emotional safety, stability, and recovery for children. Provide effective leadership, supervision, and professional development to staff, fostering a culture of accountability, reflection, and continuous learning. Work collaboratively with social workers, parents, schools, health professionals, and other agencies to achieve the best outcomes for children. Oversee safeguarding and behaviour management practices, ensuring all incidents are reported, reviewed, and learned from in line with Regulation 40 and local safeguarding procedures. Manage budgets and resources efficiently, ensuring the home remains financially sustainable while maintaining high standards of care. Chair team meetings, placement reviews, and strategy discussions to ensure consistent, child-focused decision-making. Drive improvement through regular auditing, data analysis, and feedback to ensure the home delivers outstanding care and compliance.
Qualifications and Experience

Minimum of two years' management or supervisory experience within the children's residential care sector is essential. Minimum of Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England) or equivalent (or working towards completion). Proven experience as a Registered Manager, Deputy Manager, or Senior Team Leader within a regulated children's home. Comprehensive understanding of the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023), and related statutory guidance. Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop, and retain high-performing teams. Demonstrated ability to create and maintain positive, trusting relationships with children, families, and professionals. Sound knowledge of safeguarding, risk management, and behavioural support within a therapeutic and trauma-informed framework. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality reports, care plans, and regulatory documents.
