About the role:
As Onboarding Supervisor, you will lead a high-performing team responsible for processing merchant applications, managing KYC/KYB checks, and supporting the underwriting process.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you'll ensure compliance with regulatory standards, maintain SLA performance, and drive the continuous development of your team. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone with proven onboarding, compliance, or payment operations experience.
What you'll do:
Leadership & Team Oversight
Lead, mentor, and support the onboarding team--balancing hands-on involvement with team oversight and development.
Monitor team performance against SLA, quality, and compliance KPIs
Conduct regular case quality reviews and 1:1 performance check-in's
Complete and document regular recorded call reviews to assess tone, accuracy, and
compliance
Deliver constructive feedback and implement individual/team development plans
Act as an escalation point for complex or urgent onboarding queries KYC, KYB & Underwriting Coordination
Oversee KYC/KYB document verification and ensure adherence to internal policies and FCA/AML guidelines
Review merchant applications and escalate high-risk or incomplete files for further
underwriting
Coordinate with external underwriters and internal compliance/risk teams
Ensure seamless onboarding flow from application to activation
Sales & Stakeholder Collaboration
Liaise with field sales agents and relationship managers to resolve onboarding
queries
Maintain clear communication with merchants, sales partners, and internal teams to
reduce processing delays
Support training of sales partners on required onboarding documentation and
procedures
This role is perfect for you if you have:
? Proven experience in an onboarding, KYC/KYB, AML or underwriting environment
? Experience leading or supervising a team in a regulated financial, fintech or payments setting
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills
? Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams
? Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
? Ability to prioritise tasks and manage workloads under pressure
? Strong interpersonal and relationship building abilities
? A proactive mindset with a sense of ownership and accountability
? A confident, collaborative approach to working with internal and external stakeholders
? Comfortable using systems such as CRMs, onboarding portals, or KYC verification tools (e.g., Companies House, D&B, Creditsafe)
Desired Qualifications
? A-levels or equivalent qualification
? ICA/AML certificate or KYC-related training (preferred but not essential)
? Experience in payments, merchant acquiring, or e-commerce onboarding is a plus
? At least 2 years of hands-on experience managing or leading a team within a fast-paced environment
