We are looking someone with oncology and/or research delivery experience to join an innovative team in the delivery, management and co-ordination of cancer research projects involving patients, families and carers at Yeovil Hospital. As part of the Somerset Foundation Trust research department, we work closely with our colleagues at Musgrove Park, collaborating on research studies running across both sites.


The role requires leadership skills and provides support for other staff whilst working alongside the multidisciplinary team. This post will recruit patients and their families into research clinical trials, thoroughly supporting patients and their carers during their involvement in the research process.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

The role of the Band 6 Oncology Research Nurse includes delivery, management and co-ordination of cancer research projects involving patients, families and carers at Yeovil Hospital. This post will involve the safe conduct of research involving both NIHR portfolio studies and industry funded research, working within the Southwest Peninsula Clinical Research Delivery Network.


The role will need to develop and maintain close working relationships with clinical teams mainly within the oncology team, involving, encouraging, and supporting both new researchers and more experienced teams of researchers in achieving research ambitions, offering patients research opportunities and embedding research into the specialty cancer multi-disciplinary teams


This role requires working as an integral part of the Research team co-ordinating, delivering, monitoring and recording the care and progress of patients involved in research studies and clinical trials. The role will also require leadership skills and provide support for other staff whilst working alongside the multidisciplinary team. This post will recruit patients and their families into research, thoroughly supporting patients and their carers during their involvement in the research process.
