About The Role We are now looking to recruit maternity cover for an Online Tutor to join our BA Hons Interior Design (Online) team in the School of Architecture, Design and Interiors. Your role will involve working on a module which is titled 'Professional Practice' which is concerned with the business of interior design - exploring the 'built reality' of a project proposal, focusing on the contractual and legal aspects of a design project, outlining legal agreements between the designer and client as well as the wider building contract team. Topics covered include the administrative tools needed to run the 'back office' of a design business such as the letter of appointment, fee schedule, contracts, T&Cs, tendering process, Construction Design Management etc.
The module content is already recorded; the online tutor leads discussions and reviews students work in weekly tutorials and webinars. Students engage with pre-recorded content that has been created by module leaders in the virtual learning environment and work through this during the week in their own time and come together to meet their online tutor for live sessions. As the Online Tutor you will deliver live sessions such as group crits, webinars and tutorials each week to a global cohort of students. Around these live sessions you will be responsible for pastoral support, and academic guidance via emails, one to ones and an online studio space. You will work closely with the course leader and module leaders to ensure best possible student experience.
The Online Tutor for this module will be allocated 112 hours per study block to support up to 30 students with learning, assessment and feedback, working January 2026 to May 2026.
About You
Educated to degree level, or having equivalent industry experience, the ideal candidate will have experience in working with groups of students from diverse backgrounds at HE level. Student focused, well organised, and digitally literate you will be running live tutorials, webinars, online workshops and providing support for a group of students.
You will have specialist knowledge of working within interior design, in particular being confident with project management including CDM and creating professional documents such as quotations, terms and conditions, appointment letters etc all documents related to the business side of interior design, as well as some knowledge of report writing. Previous experience teaching is preferred as well as excellent communication skills, and the commitment to deliver an excellent online learning experience for students. You will have knowledge of assessment and pastoral support.
