About The Role

We are now looking to recruit two Online Tutors to embark on a significant role at Falmouth University, where you will be instrumental in guiding the next generation of UX innovators and thought leaders worldwide. As an Online Tutor for our MA User Experience Research module, part of the esteemed Games Academy, your responsibilities will include linking academic principles to practical scenarios. Your insights and expertise will be invaluable in equipping students with the essential tools to advance in human-computer interaction. In your capacity as an Online Tutor, you will be more than just an educator. You will serve as a mentor to guide and support your modules cohort, addressing students\' queries, clarifying doubts, and fostering an environment of inquiry and discovery. The flexibility inherent in this role is balanced by a deep commitment to maintaining an active online presence, ensuring each student, irrespective of their geographical location, feels acknowledged and supported throughout their academic journey. Online Tutors are vital to the success and vibrancy of our online courses. They are a constant presence in the module, the first point of contact for students\xe2\x80\x99 academic enquiries and supporting their learning activities. As the Online Tutor you will deliver live sessions such as webinars, workshops or tutorials each week to a cohort of students. Around these live sessions you will be responsible for topic discussions, and academic guidance via emails, one to ones and an online learning space. You will work closely with the course leader and module leaders to ensure best possible student experience.

The hours for these roles are flexible and spread throughout the week as agreed by your line manager. The flexibility of these roles means that you can fit the hours around existing responsibilities. The role compliments individuals who have freelance careers or other teaching commitments. Each online tutor is responsible for no more than 30 students, making this an extremely rewarding role.

About You

Educated to degree level, or having equivalent industry experience, the ideal candidate will have experience in working with groups of students from diverse backgrounds at HE level.

You will have evidence of professional visual arts practice and a demonstrable engagement with, and interest in, the dialogues, debates and concepts surrounding contemporary arts and culture. Previous experience teaching online would also be an advantage. You will be well organised, have excellent communication skills, and the commitment to deliver an excellent online learning experience for students.

  • Strong connections with industry and professional practice
  • Excellent digital literacy
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills

These are fixed term, part-time, 10 hours per week, flexible home-working roles which start in September 2023, supporting a group of students for 16 weeks until January 2024.

Due to the online nature of the roles, they can be worked remotely, however the successful candidates must be based within the UK and be able to start in September 2023.
