OP5 Skilled Operative

Contract: Cheshire East Highways

Location: Congleton

Contract Type: Permanent

We have an excellent opportunity for a Highway Operative to join our maintenance team, supporting the delivery of essential highway maintenance and construction works across the network. Working as part of an operational team, you'll carry out a variety of skilled tasks including carriageway and footway repairs, drainage maintenance, soft estate works such as grass cutting and strimming, and minor civils activities.

The Role

Work as part of the highway maintenance operational team. Carry out a variety of skilled tasks including carriageway, footway, drainage maintenance, soft estate maintenance works (e.g. grass cutting, strimming etc) and minor civils works. Ensure that all works are completed safely. Receive daily briefings and understand risks and control measures required for the task. Complete daily record sheets and associated documents.

About You

A current, valid driving licence is essential

, with LGV class 2 as desirable. Previous experience of delivering highway maintenance activities on site. Previous experience in winter maintenance and emergency response desirable. Able to carry out basic safety, quality and environmental audits and risk assessments. Able to take responsibility for traffic management, 12 A/B Traffic Management.
