Operating Partner

London, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

We're looking for a high-calibre Operating Partner to work shoulder-to-shoulder with OakNorth's Co-Founder & CEO and Executive Leadership Team. This is a hands-on, high-impact role designed for a strategic operator and business builder--someone who thrives on complexity, drives with urgency, and has the horsepower to turn bold vision into tangible results.
You will take ownership of mission-critical initiatives, build and lead high-performing cross-functional teams, and deliver business value through the design, optimisation, and execution of scalable strategies, products, and operating models.

This is not a theoretical or advisory role--you'll be in the arena, proactively solving problems, leading change, and accelerating OakNorth's growth and impact.

What You'll Do:

+

Drive Strategy Into Execution

+ Translate CEO-level priorities into measurable, high-impact initiatives.
+ Lead end-to-end delivery of strategic projects across functions and geographies.
+ Step into ambiguous spaces to create clarity, drive momentum, and land results.
+ Identify, assess, and action new revenue and growth opportunities.
+

Build Operating Leverage

+ Architect and refine company OKRs, performance KPIs, dashboards, and reporting rhythms.
+ Design and scale high-efficiency business processes and systems across verticals.
+ Build cross-functional operating muscle where gaps or bottlenecks exist.
+ Drive the adoption of modern, tech-enabled ways of working, with a strong focus on leveraging GenAI, automation, and process optimisation to enhance efficiency and scalability.
+

Accelerate Organisational Performance

+ Own or turn around strategic verticals, functions, or special projects.
+ Hire, lead, and mentor high-performing teams; inspire excellence and accountability.
+ Improve how the Executive team functions: decision-making, planning, and alignment.
+ Serve as an extension of the CEO in key forums--internal and external.
+

Partner at the Highest Level

+ Be a thought partner to the CEO and Execs, offering challenge and support in equal measure.
+ With the CEO and Executive team, a scalable operating rhythm across the company, enabling alignment and execution at pace. Bring structure and accountability to cross-functional initiatives. Identify blind spots, dive in and problem solve
+ Filter and focus CEO input to ensure highest-leverage impact of their time and energy.

What you will need:

+ 8+ years' experience in a top-tier strategy consultancy, investment bank, private equity firm, or hyper-growth tech/fintech environment. + Strong academic background in mathematics, STEM, Economics, or a similarly rigorous and highly numerate field; must be highly numerate. MBA or equivalent experience preferred
+ Exceptional problem-solving skills, strong commercial acumen, and relentless bias for action.
+ Deep analytical ability--comfortable with financial models, dashboards, and data-led decision making.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a knack for influencing across all levels.

You'll Thrive Here If You Are...

+

Impact-Driven:

You focus on outcomes, not activity. You're known for shipping, landing, and scaling meaningful results. +

Analytical & Insightful:

You interrogate data deeply and challenge assumptions thoughtfully.
+

Strategic & Systems-Oriented:

You see the big picture, spot patterns, and architect elegant solutions.
+

Emotionally Intelligent:

You work across stakeholders and functions with humility, empathy, and influence.
+

Hands-On:

You roll up your sleeves and get stuck into the detail when needed--no task is too small.
+

Adaptable & Resilient:

You thrive in ambiguity and rebound quickly from setbacks.
+

Growth-Minded:

You're constantly learning, evolving, and pushing boundaries for yourself and others.
