Dale Farm Cooperative is a UK dairy farmer co-operative owned by over 1200 dairy farmers who supply us with fresh milk. About Us







Dale Farm is the largest UK farmer-owned cooperative, owned by 1,300 UK farmers. We supply a wide range of dairy products, including cheese, butter, dairy spreads, fresh milk and ice cream to consumers and as food ingredients into the UK, Irish and international markets.





Given the breadth of business management tools now available to us, we are embarking on a journey to re-shape our business working practices with the objective of building streamlined, efficient operations relying on core business systems.





We need to ensure that we are recording the right information at the right time with as little manual intervention as possible in order to give our teams the information they need to make data-backed decisions in a timely manner. To support this step-change journey, we are looking to recruit for the following key role to join the Group Business Improvement Team. This role will be based in Dunman but will require regular travel to our Head Office in Belfast.





About the Role







As the Operational Site Business Improvement Lead, you will report into the Business Improvement Manager within the Group Supply Chain and Procurement Function. This role will be integral in transforming our business working practices, with the objective of building streamlined, efficient operations, relying on core business systems.





With an initial focus on our Dunman site, the key areas of responsibility will include:

Improving current Excel reports and information flows to deliver more useable data to the site management team. Working with the local teams to understand the information they need and clarify requirements. Work with the site, IT, OT, and the business improvement team to automate data collation and dashboards. Coordinating and supporting local staff to carry out detailed process mapping for all aspects of the operations focusing on: + detailed current working practices,
+ all information flows and systems used,
+ all pinch points and inefficiencies,
+ improvement opportunities,
+ missing information
Working with the Central Business Improvement team and wider local / Group / external stakeholders to develop next generation processes. Process mapping all next generation processes and ensure they meet site requirements. Coordinating testing for all process developments. Training of site teams on new systems. The reviewing of new systems to ensure they are embedded with new teams. Streamlining workflows from the site through the rest of the business.




The scope of the role could be any information system including (but not limited to) touching on stocks, planning, production, and quality.





About You







The Essential





The successful candidate will have a relevant 3rd level qualification or equivalent, in a field that is data and process focused. The successful candidate will then be able to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of process flows.





We are looking for someone with strong teamwork and communication skills, and who possesses a methodical and proactive approach to problem-solving. The successful candidate will have a desire to learn about production systems and processes, and will be capable and driven to challenge existing processes. Strong IT skills are essential, particularly Excel, with the ability to create, update, and improve complex Excel spreadsheets.





You will have an analytical mindset along with strong problem-solving capabilities, and you will be able to successfully collaborate cross-functionally. The successful candidate will have first-rate organisational skills, with the ability to concurrently manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines.





The Desirable





It would be advantageous to have at least 2 years' relevant operational and planning experience in an FMCG organisation.





It would also be desirable for the successful candidate to:

Be able to demonstrate in depth knowledge of information and product flows and implemented change on site Possess wider IT skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft NAV, Principal Index WMS, Power BI, and Power Automate. Have had exposure to/experience of Lean tools such as Six Sigma and DMAIC.
