37,004 per annum, 879 per month night shift allowance, 10% annual bonus potential, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays rising with service and a company pension scheme with highly competitive contribution rates

Royal Mail International Operations operates from the HWDC (Heathrow Worldwide Distribution Centre), the UK's largest and most advanced automated hub. This hub processes worldwide imports and exports, adhering to stringent customs and aviation security standards, and connects with over 195 countries globally. Spanning 45,000 square metres, HWDC has the capability to manage around 1 million import/export items daily.

The role





Currently, we are seeking a dedicated individual to join us as a Work Area Manager for the night shift. In this role, you will oversee a team of 20 frontline staff, driving high performance, motivation, and commitment among team members.



You will be responsible for:



The day-to-day operation and performance of the work area ensuring work plan and scorecard targets are achieved. The management of frontline staff to include regular one-to-ones, team meetings and HR duties, attendance, performance management, training and team development. The maintenance and analysis of all Work Area control systems. Monitoring daily performance and operational plans and collaborating with the Shift Manager to meet service and operational targets. Ensuring health and safety compliance, ensuring all employees take responsibility for H&S in the work area. Identifying and implementing process improvements

Shift pattern:

Monday - Friday 22:30 - 06:42. A degree of flexibility is required to meet operational requirements.



About you





We're seeking a proactive and resilient leader with a passion for operational excellence. As a leader within the business, you must demonstrate evidence on your CV of the following:



Experience managing large teams in a fast-paced, operational, distribution of logistics environment. A persuasive leader with drive and a well-developed ability to identify and resolve problems through a team engagement. Strong communication, influencing and people management skills. A track record of achieving KPIs and driving performance. Experience leading teams through change and improvement initiatives. Analytical skills to interpret data and identify trends. Ability to build effective working relationships with a range of key stakeholders to achieve business objectives. Ability to work under pressure in challenging environment and adapt to new ways of working. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Knowledge of HWDC export/import operations (desirable) and automation systems.
