We are seeking a well-organised

Operations and Compliance Officer

to support a wide range of administrative functions within the College. You will be the first point of contact for of Health and Safety and Fire Safety legislation and risk management issues.


The position is set to commence ASAP and will be full-time for

initially for 12 weeks

with a pay rate of

19.22 per hour + holiday pay.



Key Responsibilities:



To assist with weekly checks of fire alarm call points across College owned properties and maintenance of records as necessary; To assist the College in its emergency procedures and tasks, including routine compliance checks for the Works Department; To organize and record that fire-fighting equipment remains in date and readily available in its designated location; To set up teaching/conference rooms as requested; Supervision of the Operations Team staff tasking using the College ticketing system; To plan activity in a coherent way, ensuring that travel time is reduced to a minimum by careful arrangement of tasks; To forward programmed activity in line with broader College activity, particularly in Housekeeping and maintenance departments, and to support the annual cycle of planning for students; To conduct or arrange for the briefing of staff fully and effectively at the start of each day and each week; Coordinate all mandatory and advisory testing and servicing requirements of gas fired appliances, asbestos monitoring, fire alarm and emergency lighting, electrical circuits, control of legionella, lifts; lightning conductors, LEV and other equipment; HVAC and air handling equipment. Maintaining Fire door Checks and conducting small adjustments and repairs. Create and maintain a College Asset Register Annual review of FRA, H&S Audits, RAMS.

Selection Criteria:



NEBOSH NGC in Occupational Health and Safety/willingness to qualify. Strong organizational skills and a structured, methodical approach to work Sound knowledge of Health and Safety and Fire Safety legislation and risk management Good communication, inter-personal and report writing skills Full Clean Driving Licence Good team working skills, including flexibility and adaptability Excellent IT Skills with a good knowledge of MS Office Manual Handling knowledge
