Job Description

We are a successful independent direct marketing and ecommerce company with a workforce spanning both professional services and on-site manufacturing. We are looking to appoint an Operations Director who will lead operational excellence across our production, warehousing, logistics, infrastructure, ERP implementation and regulatory functions - delivering scalable, sustainable, and compliant services that support the business's growth, profitability, and values-led mission. As a key member of the strategic leadership team, the Operations Director will play a central role in the successful implementation of new ERP system, ensuring operational needs are fully represented and embedded across the business.

Key responsibilities:



Strategic & Operational Leadership



Develop and execute an operations strategy aligned with business growth, regulatory obligations, and sustainability goals. Lead continuous improvement programmes that increase efficiency, service reliability, and environmental performance. Oversee operations across all sites to ensure smooth, compliant, and customer-centric delivery. Contribute actively to executive decision-making and cross-functional leadership.

ERP Implementation (Collaborative Leadership)



Act as a senior sponsor and operational lead for the ERP project, working closely with IT, Finance, and project teams. Ensure the system design and roll-out meet the needs of production, logistics, and warehousing. Champion user adoption across the operations function, ensuring robust processes, reporting, and training are in place. Provide operational insight into project governance, ensuring the ERP supports long-term scalability and compliance.

Regulatory Compliance (Desirable RP Experience)



Maintain knowledge of relevant healthcare and logistics regulations, embedding them into operations. Oversee audits, manage deviations, and ensure inspection readiness. Experience as a Responsible Person (RP) under MHRA GDP guidelines is desirable but not essential.

Infrastructure & Facilities Oversight



Manage physical infrastructure across the organisation, including buildings, utilities, solar systems, and security. Ensure facilities are maintained to support operational needs and sustainability objectives

Team Leadership



Lead and develop a high-performing operations team, building a culture of ownership, clarity, and collaboration. Create team structures, goals, and rhythms that drive accountability and continuous improvement. Ensure staff are properly trained and aligned with operational and regulatory standards.

Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance



Ensure full compliance with health & safety legislation and operational best practices. Lead robust systems for risk identification, mitigation, and reporting across all sites.

Required skills



Essential



Degree-level education or equivalent, with professional qualifications in operations, logistics, or compliance

Proven leadership in operational roles, ideally within eCommerce, manufacturing, or healthcare logistics

Experience leading ERP system implementation or major system/process change.

IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent qualification

Excellent planning, leadership, and problem-solving capabilities

Desirable



Eligible to act as RP under MHRA GDP guidelines

Experience in temperature-controlled environments and regulated product handling

Experience managing MHRA inspections and audits

Background in healthcare, pharmaceutical, or regulated sectors

Understanding of sustainability-led supply chains

Conditions:



Responsible to: Managing Director

Responsible for: Operations Team (Production, Logistics, Warehousing, Infrastructure)

Working hours: 39.75 hours per week or as required for fulfilment of the role (Mon-Fri with occasional flexibility)

Place of work: This is an on-site role at Precision House, Lamdin Road, Bury St Edmunds.
