Job Description

Brick Fabrication Ltd. (Brickfab) is a manufacturer of prefabricated building products for the UK House Building industry. It is based in Pontypool, south Wales and has traded for thirty years and is the largest independent supplier of prefabricated building products. Its sales rose 25% in 2025 to nearly 6m due to increased demand for its products, albeit in a subdued market in house building. It is likely this increase in demand will continue for the near future. The cope with this increase, the company wishes to appoint a Operations Director to lead the next phase of the company's growth.

The role of Operations Director at Brickfab, is one that encompasses much of the company's activities on site at Pontypool Manufacturing, Quality, Transport, H&S, Property and the 50 staff associated within these disciplines. Not only that, but it covers two diverse product streams GRP and Brick Products. A key role of the Operations Director will be to prepare the Pontypool site to handle this expansion in a controlled way

An immediate focus will be to continue the company's Lean journey to improve quality and customer satisfaction. Brickfab already has in place, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 and product approval and accreditation from the British Board of Agreement. A greater emphasis on these methodologies will be important.

The Manufacturing Director role is essentially one of leadership. Leading diverse teams in pursuit of the common goal of manufacturing quality products, profitably, to achieve customer satisfaction. The Operations Director direct reports will be the managers heading up Gemini Production, GRP Production, Quality and Transport.

The Operations Director will report to the board on meeting all key performance measures for manufacturing.

The Candidate

The successful candidate is likely to have considerable experience in all aspects of manufacturing a diverse range of products. They will be able to show a track record of improving manufacturing efficiencies by embedding Lean principles, and leading teams to achieve these goals.

They will have excellent communication skills and be able to engage the workforce to align effort to achieve targets, particularly customer satisfaction.

The role calls for a determined self-starter, who enjoys a challenge, and can work within budgets.
