What we are looking for
We are currently seeking an Operations Manager to join our team, based at the racecourse in Ascot, Berkshire.
This is a full time, permanent role.
What youll be doing
The position sits in the Operations Department which is responsible for delivering outstanding and safe customer experiences across 26 racedays a year as well as supporting Events at Ascot throughout the year. Reporting into the Head of Operations this role is responsible for Stewarding, Security, Car Parking, Traffic management, Medical Provision, liaison with Blue Light Services and the local Council. This role will be responsible for the Assistant Operations Manager, the raceday staff and event team as well as:
Overseeing the smooth and safe operational delivery of on a raceday.
Managing a budget of over 4 million.
Assist the Head of Operations to support the safe delivery outside racing events for Events at Ascot.
Management of the Site Operations Manual ensuring it reflects current operational procedures.
Bring innovative solutions to the department and keep abreast of safety requirements and any policy changes.
Develop into being the Deputy Safety Officer on Racedays.
Such other duties as the Company may, at times, reasonably require.

Support the overall delivery of the operational race day experience reflecting the values of Ascot Racecourse.
Ensuring the operational aspects adhere to racecourse and brand standards of presentation.
Work with the wider Operations team on the customer experience and race day signage.
Implement Stewarding Plan managing up to 7 contractors and 1,400 event staff.
Manage the Car Parking Contractors and Traffic Management plan.
Manage the Medical provisions on a race day, making sure industry and regulatory requirements are met.
Manage the Operational side of the Aviation activities at Ascot Racecourse.
Liaise with all transport hubs around egress and ingress of a race day.

Be the main liaison between the blue light services, both annually and on a race day.
Proactively manage crowd movements and behaviour and set the strategy.
Oversee the day-to-day workings and processes of the onsite site security team.
Manage the site accreditation systems and process for annual, race day and visitor passes.
Manage the Incident Management Systems on Race days to ensure accurate recording and reporting.

Recruit, manage and develop the race day staff especially the iconic Bowler Hats.
Oversee the check-in, check-out, welfare, engagement of race day staff.
Oversee the staff rostering system.
Manage the race day documentation for all staff and work with other departments to align information and look and feel.
Ensure training for all event day staff in order for them to deliver outstanding customer experience for guests.
Management of the Operational Sector Managers at Royal Ascot across the 4 enclosures.
Skills and experience you can bring
To be conversant with all relevant legislation, including the Green Guide and Purple Guides.
Ideally hold the Level 4 Crowd Management.
Ideally hold an IOSH or NEBOSH Qualifications.
Proven experience of working on large scale events.
Experience of working on a large or multi-site venues.
Budget Management experience.
Excellent oral and written communication skills at all levels.
Excellent administrative skills, budgetary and staff management experience.
A well-motivated self-starter with a can-do attitude.
Positive, helpful attitude.
Resilient and agile attitude to work.
Attention to detail.
Ability to work well under pressure.
