We're looking for a hands-on, experienced Operations Manager to take full ownership of our day-to-day operations across the warehouse (including logistics and production) and our customer service function. We're a small business with a team of 14 people, 3 as part of your team plus you, and this role will be a key part of keeping everything running smoothly while improving how we operate.
This position is ideal for someone who has managed a small warehouse environment before and enjoys bringing structure, standards and pace to a busy operation. You'll be trusted to make this area your own, identifying improvements, building consistency through better processes, and developing a small team. You don't need to be a Lean expert already, we can provide training but you do need to be the type of person who enjoys improving systems and reducing wasted time.
What You'll Be Responsible For
You'll lead and supervise the operations team across warehouse and customer service, ensuring everyone is aligned and working towards the same goals. You'll run a short daily team meeting to set priorities, remove blockers and keep communication clear between people. You'll also carry out weekly 1:1s with your direct reports, tracking performance through KPIs, coaching where needed, and supporting development plans including helping identify relevant training courses.
You'll take ownership of recruiting, onboarding and training new staff across both warehouse/production and customer service, ensuring that everyone is set up properly, understands the standards, and follows consistent ways of working. A key part of the role is driving improvements: streamlining processes to improve speed, reduce waste and cut costs, and documenting SOPs so the operation runs consistently even as we grow.
From a logistics and dispatch perspective, you'll manage the booking of couriers and transport for all orders, while also removing and reducing admin tasks from the warehouse so the team can focus on productivity and output.
You'll also be responsible for keeping health & safety and compliance standards strong. This includes implementing and maintaining H&S policies, carrying out risk assessments and safety inspections, ensuring staff are trained on compliance and safety standards, and maintaining records required for audits.
In addition, you'll manage our fleet administration, keeping accurate records of ownership or leasing agreements, insurance, MOTs and tax compliance. You'll ensure servicing schedules are followed and coordinate repairs in the event of breakdowns or accidents.
Finally, you'll support budget planning and forecasting for the teams, creating an annual plan and reviewing budgets quarterly to ensure we stay on track.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who has strong experience running operations in a small warehouse environment, and who enjoys being accountable for the full picture, people, performance, process, and standards. You'll need to be confident leading a small team, setting expectations, and building a culture of accountability and improvement. You should be organised, practical, and comfortable taking ownership of both operational delivery and documentation (SOPs, compliance records, KPI tracking etc.). Experience with health & safety, compliance and risk assessments is important, and experience supporting customer service alongside warehouse operations is a big advantage.
Lean experience is a bonus, but not essential, what matters most is that you enjoy improving the way things work and want to build a well-run, efficient operation.
