CLdN Ports wish to recruit a Operations Manager to work within our busy and expanding Ro-Ro Terminal. The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role and have a flexible, professional and pro-active approach to work.

The role



Assist the Terminal Operations Manager (TOM) in ensuring the efficient, safe and cost-effective running of all port operations in Liverpool and deputise in their absence. Provision of daily feedback to the TOM of the situation on the terminal in relation to space and associated productivity and performance affecting trailer, freight and vessel operations. Responsible for the authorisation of records on the Companies Time Management System. Assist the TOM, in regularly reviewing and monitoring damage to both customer cargo and port handling equipment, reporting any trends or increases in damage levels and severity to minimise reoccurrence. To assist in the provision of periodic statistical reports to TOM. Assist the TOM in ensuring that the agreed performance management system and associated KPI's are clearly understood and are adhered to by all. Assist the TOM in continuously seeking ways to improve overall performance and reduction of costs. Establish and maintain Service Level Agreements with suppliers of terminal services and third-party suppliers. Attend regular meetings with the TOM and Operations Supervisors to discuss issues relating to the business. Assist in regular reviews to ensure a high level of H&S practice is achieved within all areas of the operation, following the responsibilities identified within the company Safety Management System. Continuous review of service provided, seeking ways to improve process. Close liaison with UK Health & Safety Manager, UK Civil & Structural Engineering Manager and the Mechanical Engineering Manager. To maintain any established system to ensure that all tools and particularly plant and machinery are checked on a regular basis and faults rectified within pre-determined timescales. To be involved and assist in the development of any IT initiatives within the terminal. Assess the training need of all staff and liaise with the training officer. Assist the HR department and TOM in ensuring that all personnel related matters including disciplinary/welfare/capability/recruitment processes, are dealt with in a timely fashion. Conduct Interviews, employment decisions, disciplinaries, accident investigations/hearings and dismissals as and when required. Assist the TOM in always maintaining a high level of Health & Safety practices, particularly Safe Systems of Work and Risk Assessments, within their area. Ensure that all Company policies and procedures are followed and a positive image of the Company maintained Undertake any training, determined by management, enabling the post holder to fulfil the role efficiently. To carry out any other duties and tasks within skills and capabilities, when requested to do so. Regularly review damage to property and cargo within the terminal with a shared objective of zero tolerance.

It is important that you have a good work ethic with good organisational skills You will have previous experience in a similar role. Previous Supervisory experience is essential It is essential you have a pro-active approach towards problem solving, workload and time management with good knowledge of Health and Safety You will have good interpersonal and communication skills as well as proficiency with bespoke and Microsoft systems You must be a self-motivated individual Good timekeeping is essential Ability to prioritise workload whilst working to tight timescales in accordance with company policies You must be able to work within a team and lead a team. A flexible approach to work is necessary as you will be expected to cover when required Must be willing to undertake any duties that may arise to contribute to the day-to-day running of the terminal You must be willing to work to a flexible timetable to meet the changing patterns of work which could include working at other CLdN Ports across the UK and Europe, along with shifts including weekend cover.
